Duc Manh, sometimes known as The Duke, was born in Hanoi, Vietnam and moved to Paris as a young man. Ducmanh exhibited at Rene Drouin’s gallery in Paris, and his career took off when he moved to New York in 1965. Duc Manh was awarded a Rockefeller foundation grant. Ducmanh caught the attention of legendary dealer Allan Stone, who began to show his work. Allan Stone Gallery still exhibits Nguyen Duc Man:
